NBA Predictions: Spurs a great bet to cover vs. Rockets? 12/15/17
Are the San Antonio Spurs a good bet to cover the point spread as an underdog on Friday night? Gregg Popovich’s squad will take on the Rockets in Houston.
The Odds: Spurs at Rockets, 9:30 p.m. ET, Friday
According to oddsmakers, Houston is a 7.5-point home favorite for tonight. San Antonio opened as a 6.5-point underdog but the number climbed a full point. As for the total, the number hit the board at 212 but is up to 213.5.
The Spurs enter tonight’s game with a 19-9 record but are just 6-7 on the road this season. The Rockets, meanwhile, are an impressive 22-4 overall and 10-3 at home. From a betting standpoint, San Antonio is 14-13 against the spread overall but just 4-9 ATS on the road. Houston is 14-11 at the betting window overall, but 5-7 ATS at home.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Report
Kawhi Leonard returned to action on Tuesday night and is probable for tonight. Kyle Anderson, however, remains out with a MCL injury.
Houston Rockets Injury Report
Luc Mbah a Moute is out with a shoulder injury while Zhou Qi is questionable with a calf injury.
Our Prediction
In the last six meetings between these two teams in Houston, the Spurs are 5-1 against the spread. The underdog has also covered the number in the last eight meetings between these two teams. In the last 11 meetings overall, the road team has cashed nine times.
The Rockets, meanwhile, are just 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five home games while the Spurs have covered in four of their last five games coming off a loss. Even though Pop’s squad has struggled to cover the spread on the road this year, I love taking the Spurs when they’re an underdog.
Friday NBA Prediction: San Antonio Spurs +7.5
