NBA Predictions: Will the Nuggets upset the Pelicans? 12/15/17

Nuggets at Clippers

Can the Denver Nuggets stay strong at home and hold off the New Orleans Pelicans when the two meet tonight at 9PM ET? Here’s our NBA Predictions for this game.

ODDS

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, New Orleans is the slight favorite on the road, as the Pelicans are getting odds of -1 point against the Nuggets. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 223 points. Denver has won and covered in three of its last four meetings with New Orleans and the two have split the two meetings this season. Tonight’s contest takes place from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

PELICANS

New Orleans is coming off a 115-108 win over Milwaukee at home on Wednesday. The Pelicans have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games. The Pelicans are now 15-14 overall with a 7-7 record on the road. NO is 16-12-1 against the spread this season. The Pelicans put up 110.8 points per game right now, but give up 111.5 per game. DeMarcus Cousins is putting up 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game to lead the team while Anthony Davis is adding 25.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per contest.

NUGGETS

Denver is coming off a 124-118 loss at Boston on Wednesday night. The Nuggets ended a six-game road trip at 2-4. Denver is now 15-13 overall, but the Nuggets are 10-2 at home. When it comes to the spread, Denver is only 11-16-1. The Nuggets are scoring 107.5 points per game this season while allowing 107.4 per contest. However, at home, Denver is putting up 112.2 points per game and allowing just 103.4 per contest. Gary Harris, Will Barton, Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap are all averaging 15 points per game or more while Jokic adds 10.6 rebounds per contest. Millsap is out due to a wrist injury while Barton is questionable with a back injury.

NBA PREDICTIONS

New Orleans certainly has a powerful duo that is hard for many teams to deal with, but the Nuggets have been great at home and they have the depth that the Pelicans don’t. New Orleans can’t really focus on one Denver player and their defense is very suspect anyway. Denver seems to turn up their defensive intensity at home. I think the Nuggets find a way to get it done. The public betting siding with the Pelicans, but I am going with the Nuggets at home.
