NFL Week 9: Falcons vs. Panthers Predictions Against the Spread 11/5/17
Are the Panthers a good play against the Falcons in a pivotal NFC South matchup today at 1:00 p.m. ET?
The Matchup: Falcons (4-3) at Panthers (5-3)
According to oddsmakers, Carolina is a 2.5-point home underdog today against Atlanta. The Falcons opened as a 1.5-point road underdog, so the line movement for this game has been interesting. As for the total, the number hit the board at 44 but has been bet down to 42.5.
Atlanta enters play this week with a 4-3 record and is 3-1 on the road. Carolina, meanwhile, is 5-3 on the season but just 1-2 at home. From a betting standpoint, the Falcons have been a train wreck at 2-5 against the spread, while the Panthers are 4-4 at the betting window.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 conference games and are 4-1 against the number in their last five divisional games. They’re also 5-2 against the number in their last seven road games versus a team with a winning home record. They’re 9-4 at the betting window in their last 13 road games, but are 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have failed to cover in six of their last eight games versus NFC South opponents. They’re also just 1-4 at the betting window in their last five games when playing on grass. They’re winless against the number in their last four home games. Finally, they’re 4-9-1 against the spread in their last 14 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
Our Prediction
Wiseguys must be on Atlanta but I don’t trust the Falcons. The only consistent side in this matchup has been Carolina’s defense. Matt Ryan and Co. have been a completely different offense under new OC Steve Sarkisian. Atlanta also doesn’t do the little things to win games and I like the Panthers to win outright.
