MLB Predictions: Will the over cash when Orioles host Red Sox? 9/20/17
Will the over cash when the Orioles host the Red Sox on Wednesday night at 7:05PM ET?
The Odds: Red Sox at Orioles, 7:05PM ET, Camden Yards
According to oddsmakers, the Orioles are +185 money line underdogs to knock off the Red Sox tonight. That makes Boston a -225 money line favorite to win in Baltimore. The total, meanwhile, sits at 8.5 runs.
Boston Red Sox
Boston will send ace Chris Sale to the hill tonight in Baltimore. He gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings Friday in a no-decision versus the Rays. Sale was coming off an outing last Saturday in which he shut out the Rays for six innings. He’s had just two really good outings in his last six starts, and he’s certainly behind Corey Kluber in the Cy Young race now. Still, 16-7 with a 2.86 ERA and 287 strikeouts isn’t bad.
Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore, meanwhile, will counter with Wade Miley. Miley allowed six runs and was lifted before recording a second out in the first inning Thursday against the Yankees. The Yanks jumped on him early, ripping off two singles and a double to start the game, and after a Matt Holliday run-scoring ground out the New York club notched two more singles and a three-run homer to end Miley’s evening before it started. He’s now lost three in a row while watching his ERA climb to 5.32 in the process.
Our Prediction
The over is 5-1 in the Orioles’ last six games overall, is 5-1 in their last six games versus American League East rivals, and has cashed in four of their last five home games as well. On the other side, the over is 4-1 in Sale’s last five starts overall and 5-0 in his last five outings after allowing two runs or less in their previous game.
Wednesday MLB Prediction: Red Sox/Orioles over 8.5
