MLB Predictions: Will Cardinals cover on runline vs. Reds? 9/20/17

Reds vs Cardinals

Will the Cardinals take care of business again tonight in Cincinnati, where they will visit the Reds at 7:10PM ET?

The Odds: Cardinals at Reds, 7:10PM ET, The Great American Ballpark

According to oddsmakers, St. Louis is a -200 money line favorite to win tonight on the road. That makes Cincinnati a +170 money line underdog to pull off the upset. As for the total, the number hit the board at 9.5 and that’s where it currently sits.

St. Louis Cardinals

St. Louis will send Luke Weaver to the hill tonight. The youngster held the Reds to an unearned run over six innings to win Thursday and improve to 6-1. Weaver has won each of his last six starts, allowing just six earned runs during that span. He hasn’t walked a batter or allowed a run in his last two outings, and he’s sporting a 58/11 K/BB ratio in 47 2/3 innings overall.

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds will counter with Rookie Davis. He was just recalled from Triple-A Louisville. Davis posted a brutal 7.58 ERA and 2.21 WHIP over his first five major league starts earlier this season. He likely will have a difficult time slowing down a St. Louis offense that scored 8 runs on Tuesday night.

Our Prediction

The Cardinals are a perfect 6-0 in Weaver’s last six starts. They’re also 4-0 in his last four outings versus National League Central rivals. They’re 4-1 in Weaver’s last five outings following a quality start in his last appearance, too.

On the other side, the Reds are winless in their last four games after scoring five runs or more in their previous game. They’re also just 1-5 in their last six games versus the Cardinals, which included last night’s loss at home.

Wednesday MLB Prediction: St. Louis Cardinals -1.5
