Stanley Cup Predictions: Will Penguins best Predators at home? 6/8/17

NHL Predictions

Which team will take the crucial Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight as the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Nashville Predators tonight at 8PM ET? Here’s our Stanley Cup Predictions for Game 5.

GAME 5 ODDS

According to oddsmakers, the Penguins are favored at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -155 to win. The Predators are listed with odds of +140 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 5.5 goals.

RECORDS

The Predators managed to even up this series with a 4-1 win in Game 4 on Monday night. The home team has won all four games in this series and all six meetings between these two in the 2016-17 season.

Pittsburgh is 64-28-13 overall and 40-7-6 at home. Nashville is 55-34-13 overall and 33-9-9 on the road.

GAME 4 RECAP

Nashville was too much for Pittsburgh again on Monday, cruising to a 3-goal win. Calle Jarnkrok got the first goal in the first to make it 1-0 Nashville. Sidney Crosby would tie things up late in the first, but it was all Nashville from there.

Frederick Gaudreau and Viktor Arvidsson scored in the second period while Filip Forsberg added an insurance goal in the third. Pekka Rinne had another solid game, stopping 23 of the 24 shots he faced. Matt Murray made just 22 saves on 25 shots.

STANLEY CUP PREDICTIONS

Nashville continues to best Pittsburgh in shots and hits in this series, which is what it needs to do to win. However, the series shifting back to Pittsburgh makes me believe that the Penguins will once again find a way to win.

I think the Predators have had the better series overall, but the trends are too strong with the home team to ignore. Each team has won by multiple goals when playing at home and I think that will continue tonight.
