A’s Montas dominates in win over Padres
Frankie Montas gave up five hits and one run over 6 1/3 innings Wednesday in the Athletics’ win over the Padres. He logged six strikeouts and three walks in the victory. This was much better than his previous outing when Montas let up seven runs (five earned) in a loss to Houston. The only run he allowed came when A.J. Ellis scored from second base on Cory Spangenberg’s RBI single in the third inning. The right-hander has won four of five starts for the A’s while logging an elite 2.41 ERA. He’ll look to continue his success Monday at Detroit.
Tigers’ Hardy allows just one run in win over White Sox
Blaine Hardy allowed one run on six hits over 5 1/3 innings in a win over the White Sox on Sunday. Hardy didn’t walk anyone, and he struck out three. The only real blemish for the right-hander was a solo shot by Matt Davidson. Outside of that the White Sox were able to threaten rarely, and he made the key pitches when necessary. Hardy’s ERA drops to 3.32 on the season, and he could make another start on Sunday when Detroit faces the Indians on Sunday.
