According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Bruins are the slight favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -115 to win, while the Sharks are listed with a money line of -105 to prevail. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 5.5 goals. Tonight’s game takes place from TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
SHARKS
San Jose has won three of its last four games coming into tonight, including a 4-1 win at the Rangers on Monday. San Jose is now 4-4 on the season and 2-1 on the road. The Sharks are putting up 2.88 goals per game this year while allowing 2.75 per game. San Jose is being led by Logan Couture, who has seven goals and three assists. Kevin Labanc has added three goals. Martin Jones is 4-2 in net with a 2.35 GAA and .926 save percentage.
BRUINS
Boston is coming off a 5-4 OT loss at home to Buffalo back on Saturday. The Bruins are now 3-3-1 on the season and 2-1-1 at home. The Bruins are averaging 3.43 goals per game while allowing 3.71 per contest right now. Patrice Bergeron is questionable to return today from his lower body injury. In his absence, both Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak are leading the team with six goals each. Tuukka Rask is also questionable due to a concussion. If he is unable to go, Anton Khudobin will start. He has a .298 GAA with a .910 save percentage.
NHL PREDICTIONS
The Bruins have won two straight meetings with the Sharks, but I think Boston is a little to banged-up for my liking. The Bruins could be without one of their top players and without their starting goalie. San Jose should be able to take advantage of that as the Sharks have won eight of their last 11 against East Conference teams. Boston is just 2-7 in their last nine at home as well. The public is strongly behind San Jose tonight, and so am I.
