NFL Week 4 Predictions: Are Packers a good bet to cover vs. Bears? 9/28/17

49ers at Packers

Are the Packers a safe bet to cover the point spread this afternoon when they host the Bears at 8:25PM ET?

The Odds: Bears at Packers, 8:25PM ET, Lambeau Field

According to oddsmakers, Green Bay is a 7-point home favorite over Chicago. The total, meanwhile, sits at 44 points. While the spread has stayed at 7, the over/under dropped from 45.5 down to 44.

Chicago Bears Injuries

The Bears’ wide receiving corps remains decimated by injury. Kevin White is out with a collarbone injury, while Cameron Meredith was lost for the season due to a knee injury. Safety Quintin Demps is also out, while guard Josh Sitton is questionable and center Hroniss Grasu is dealing with a hand injury. Akiem Hicks is probable.

Green Bay Packers Injuries

Both of Green Bay’s offensive tackles are doubtful for tonight. Bryan Bulaga is dealing with an ankle injury while David Bakhitiari has a hamstring problem. Defensive tackle Mike Daniels and pass-rusher Nick Perry are also questionable.

The good news for the Packers is that receiver Randall Cobb (shoulder) is probable, as is running back Ty Montgomery (wrist). Aaron Rodgers might not have a ton of time to throw, but at least he’ll have all of his weapons.

Our Prediction

The Bears are 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 games against the Packers. They’re also 1-5 at the betting window in their last six games played on Thursday night. They’re 2-7 against the spread in their last nine road games as well.

Chicago is coming off an impressive upset win over Pittsburgh, but if Green Bay shuts down the Bears’ rushing attack then the Pack will win this game running away. Mike Glennon threw for just 101 yards in that victory over the Steelers and only one of his passes was completed to a receiver. The blueprint to beat Chicago is there, Green Bay just has to execute.
