Redskins vs Bengals

Will the Redskins cover the point spread this afternoon when they host the Bengals at 4:30PM ET?

The Matchup: Bengals vs. Redskins, 4:30PM ET, FedEx Field

According to oddsmakers, Washington is a 3-point home favorite to beat Cincinnati. The total, meanwhile, is sitting at 43.5 points. Neither the point spread nor the over/under total has changed off the original number.

Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati took it on the chin last week in a 30-12 loss to the Chiefs at home. Andy Dalton completed seven of his 13 pass attempts for 98 yards while A.J. McCarron went 8-for-15 for 93 yards with a pick. Jeremy Hill also added 28 yards rushing on six carries while Tyler Boyd had two catches for 45 yards.

Defensively, Vontaze Burfict, Jordan Willis and Chris Smith all had sacks. Nick Vigil also finished with a team-high eight tackles.

Washington Redskins

Washington fell to 0-2 in preseason play last week. After losing 23-3 to the Ravens in their opener, the Redskins lost 21-17 to the Packers at home. In the loss to Green Bay, Kirk Cousins was 14-of-23 for 144 yards with a touchdown. Backup Colt McCoy threw for 70 yards and a touchdown on 7-for-11 passing. Rookie Samaje Perine rushed eight times for 45 yards.

On defense, Chris Carter had 1.5 sacks to lead the team while Joey Mbu had a half-sack. Pete Robertson, Preston Smith and Phil Taylor Sr. also finished with one sack apiece.

Our Prediction

While Washington has yet to win a game, Cincinnati hasn’t looked sharp this preseason either. I don’t think the Bengals go into D.C. this afternoon and get a win, so I’m willing to lay the field goal on the home squad. I think it’ll be a sloppy game throughout, but one that Washington prevails.
