The pitching matchup tonight has Taijuan Walker (8-7, 3.42 ERA) on the mound for Arizona to face Kenta Maeda (12-6, 4.19) of the Dodgers. Walker has allowed just one run over his last three starts, a total of 16.2 innings. Walker has 120 strikeouts this season with 46 walks and a 1.29 WHIP. Maeda is coming off getting shelled by Arizona last week, allowing seven runs in just three innings. He has given up at least four runs in three of his last four starts. Maeda has 122 strikeouts with 30 walks and a 1.13 WHIP this year.

Tuesday’s game was a 3-1 victory for Arizona in 10 innings. Both Zach Greinke and Hyun-Jin Ryu were strong on the mound. Each gave up just one run while lasting a combined 13 innings of work. The difference in the game came from on a throwing error by the Dodgers in the 10th, allowing two runs to score. Daniel Descalso drove in the other run for Arizona while Yasmani Grandal hit a solo home run for the Dodgers’ lone run.
MLB PREDICTIONS
The oddsmakers aren’t backing down from the Dodgers despite their recent struggles. They have lost 10 of their last 11, including five to Arizona. The Diamondbacks are rolling along right now and I feel like they have the better pitcher on the mound tonight as well. Maeda has a 9.53 ERA against Arizona over four starts this year. The D’Backs have been able to crush him. Walker has a 4.22 ERA against the Dodgers, but he hasn’t faced them since April. He comes in hot right now and gets to face an L.A. lineup that isn’t showing much confidence.
