MLB Predictions: Will Braves vs. Padres be low-scoring? 6/29/17
Will tonight’s Braves and Padres matchup be low-scoring at 9:10PM ET tonight in San Diego?
The Matchup: Braves vs. Padres, 9:10PM ET, Petco Park
Atlanta enters play with a 37-40 record overall and a 17-20 mark on the road, but the club has won seven of its last 10 games. The Braves fell 7-4 on Wednesday night, but won the opener of this series 3-0 on Tuesday.
On the other side, the Padres are just 32-46 on the year, 20-20 at home, and 5-5 over their last 10 games. Their 7-4 win last night was their first victory in their last three games. That said, they did put together a three-game winning streak before dropping back-to-back games against the Tigers and Braves, respectively.
According to oddsmakers, the Padres are -115 on the money line to win tonight. As for the Braves, they’re a +105 money line underdog. The total, meanwhile, is sitting at 8.5 runs.
The Pitching Matchup: Jaime Garcia (ATL) vs. Dinelson Lamet (SD)
Garcia owns a 2-5 record and a 4.03 ERA in 2017. In his last start, he earned a no-decision after allowing six runs on seven hits against the Giants. Garcia lasted just 4 1/3 innings in that outing. It was the second time in as many starts that Garcia couldn’t complete six innings after pitching at least seven in three previous starts.
Lamet, meanwhile, is 2-2 and owns a 6.60 ERA. He has posted back-to-back no-decisions in his last two starts. In his last outing, Lamet pitched six innings of three-run ball, although only two of those three runs were earned. He scattered three hits, struck out five and walked one.
Our Prediction
The under is 6-2-2 in the Braves’ last 10 games and has cashed in five of Garcia’s last seven starts overall. On the other side, the under is 4-0 in the Padres’ last four games versus a left-handed starter and is 4-1-1 in their last six games versus National League East opponents.
Thursday MLB Prediction: Braves/Padres under 8.5
