MLB Prediction: Can the Twins stay hot vs. the Angels? 7/5/17

MLB Predictions

Can the Minnesota Twins grand another win at home over the Los Angeles Angels when the two teams battle it out at 8:10PM ET? Here’s our MLB Prediction for tonight’s contest

THE ODDS

According to the latest oddsmakers, the Twins are the clear favorite at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -170 to win. The Angels are listed with odds of +155 to win, while the over/under total for the game has been set at 10 runs.

PITCHING MATCHUP

The pitching matchup in this game has Parker Bridwell (2-1, 3.95 ERA) going for the Angels to face Ervin Santana (10-5, 3.07) of the Twins. Bridwell has some respectable numbers, but he is coming off his worst outing of the year, allowing five runs and 11 hits over six innings of work against the Mariners. He has 14 strikeouts with seven walks in 27.1 innings of work this year. Santana has been pretty good this year, but has struggled in recent starts. He has allowed five runs or more in three of his last four outings. This year he has 86 strikeouts with 38 walks and a 1.09 WHIP.

RECORDS

The Twins have taken the first two games of this series, picking up a 9-5 win on Monday and a 5-4 win on Tuesday. The Twins have won five of six against the Angels this season. Minnesota is now 43-40 overall and 18-25 at home while the Angels are 43-45 overall and 20-26 on the road.

TUESDAY’S RECAP

The Twins held off the Angels late in Tuesday’s win, allowing a run in the eighth and ninth innings. Kyle Gibson gave the Twins another improved start, allowing just two runs in 6.2 innings of work. J.C. Ramirez took the loss, allowing four runs over five innings. Ehrie Adrianza drove in a pair of runs to lead Minnesota while Byron Buxton had three hits, including his fifth home run. Yunel Escobar had three hits to lead the Angels while Albert Pujols hit his 12th home run.

MLB PREDICTION

Santana hasn’t been one to count on lately, but he also has had some stellar bounce back effort. Just two starts ago he earned a shutout over six innings against Cleveland. Santana should be able to get back on track tonight against this Los Angeles lineup that lacks a lot of consistency without Mike Trout batting. The Twins have found ways to manufacture runs against the Angels in this series and it will continue tonight against Bridwell.

MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins -170
