Charlie Morton allowed three earned runs over six innings Saturday in a loss to the Mariners. Things were going fine for Morton until the top of the third inning, when he plunked leadoff man Denard Span and went on to surrender two singles, a double, and a triple. Morton is now 12-3 on the season with a 2.88 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 171/54 K/BB ratio in 137 1/3 innings.
Mariners’ Gonzales loses to A’s, has his next start skipped
Marco Gonzales allowed four runs over five innings in a loss against the Athletics on Monday. Gonzales issued three walks and gave up eight hits, including four doubles. He struck out four batters and needed 97 pitches to get through five frames. He was also hit in the left leg by a comebacker in the fourth inning, but remained in the contest.
