Cardinals to start Poncedeleon Tuesday night in L.A.

Daniel Poncedeleon will start for the Cardinals on Tuesday versus the Dodgers. He’s taking the rotation spot of Luke Weaver, who will move to the Cards’ bullpen. Poncedeleon spun seven no-hit innings in his lone big league start last month and has posted a 3.38 ERA over five relief appearances since then. A 10/9 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings isn’t pretty, though, and he’ll be a risky streaming option Tuesday especially since he could be fairly limited from a pitch count perspective. Poncedeleon could get a shot at additional starts but is likely just keeping a rotation spot warm for Michael Wacha (oblique)

Dodgers’ Ryu delivers six scoreless innings in return from disabled list

Hyun-Jin Ryu was stellar in his return from the disabled list on Wednesday, pitching six scoreless innings against the Giants. Ryu allowed three hits, walked none and struck out six before coming out. It was a performance much like a few he had before going down with a groin injury at the beginning of May. He can be highly useful in mixed leagues for however long he’s healthy this time.
