Will Clemson improve to 2-0 with a victory at home tonight against Auburn at 7:00PM ET?

The Matchup: Auburn vs. Clemson, 7:00PM ET, Clemson Memorial Stadium

According to oddsmakers, Clemson is a 5-point home favorite to beat Auburn. Dabo Sweeny’s team opened as a 6-point favorite, but the line was bet down a full point. As for the total, the number hit the board at 54 but jumped to 57.

Auburn Tigers

Last season when these two teams met, Auburn held the other Tigers to just 87 yards rushing. It was the second-fewest in 54 games under Gus Malzahn. Auburn also recorded five sacks in its win over Georgia Southern last week and improved to 15-1 in games that they sack the opposing quarterback at least three times under Malzahn.

According to ESPN’s Stats & Info, this will mark Auburn’s eighth game against an AP Top-3 team under Malzahn. After beating No. 1 Alabama in the “Kick Six” game in 2013, the Tigers have lost their last six games against top-3 opponents.

Clemson Tigers

The Tigers have been excellent against SEC teams under coach Dabo Swinney. He took over at CU in 2008 and since then, the Tigers have played in and won more games against SEC opponents than any other non-SEC school. Their record is 11 wins in 19 games.

The Tigers have won five straight games and nine of its last 10 against AP-ranked opponents. They have never won six straight such games in school history, but they’ll attempt to accomplish the feat tonight.

Our Prediction

Clemson is a near-perfect 4-1 against the spread in its last five home games and is 4-1 against the number in its last five games overall. The Tigers have also been excellent in the month of September, covering in nine of their last 12 games this month.
