College Football Predictions: Texas Tech a good bet vs. Oklahoma State?
Will Texas Tech hand Oklahoma State its second loss in consecutive weeks? Or will the Cowboys roll tonight in Lubbock?
The Odds: Oklahoma State at Texas Tech, 8:00PM ET, Lubbock
According to oddsmakers, the Red Raiders are 10.5-point home underdogs tonight. The Cowboys opened as 14.5-point favorites before the line dropped. As for the total, the number hit the board at 81 but has been bet up to 84.
Oklahoma State Betting Trends
The Cowboys are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games, are 4-1 against the number in their last five games overall, and are 10-4 at the betting window in their last 14 games coming off a double-digit loss at home.
Texas Tech Red Betting Trends
The Red Raiders are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, are 4-0 against the number in their last four games overall, and are 5-0 at the betting window in their last five games versus a team with a winning record. They’re also 20-6-1 against the spread in their last 27 games when playing on fieldturf.
Our Predictions
These two teams met a year ago and the only reason Texas Tech didn’t force overtime is because it missed an extra point with 1:44 left in the game. Oklahoma State’s 45-44 win was a shootout and I expect tonight to be a high-scoring affair as well.
In shootouts, why not take the points when Vegas is indicating that both teams will be able to score? Tech has an excellent signal-caller in Nic Shimonek, who isn’t Mason Rudolph, but he’s more than capable of leading the Red Raiders to an upset.
