College Football Predictions: Tennessee getting too many points vs. Georgia?

Georgia vs Florida

Is Tennessee catching too many points today as a home underdog versus Georgia?

The Odds: Georgia at Tennessee, 3:30PM ET, Knoxville

According to oddsmakers, the Volunteers are now 9.5-point home underdogs. The Vols opened as 7-point dogs, but the line has shot up nearly to double-digits. As for the total, the number sits at 47 points.

Georgia Betting Trends

The Bulldogs have been a great bet on the road, covering in four straight away from Athens. Georgia has also covered the spread in four of its last five games. In their last seven conference games, the Dawgs are 5-2. Finally, they’re 8-1 at the betting window in their last nine road games versus an opponent with a winning home record.

Tennessee Betting Trends

The Volunteers have covered in eight of their last 10 games coming off an ATS loss. They’re also 8-3 at the betting window in their last 11 games versus a team with a winning record. Finally, Tennessee is 6-1 against the spread in its last seven games after scoring less than 20 points in its previous game.

Our Prediction

Despite Tennessee’s struggles at quarterback and in the red zone defensively, this is too many points. The Bulldogs have failed to cover in four of their last five meetings with the Vols. Georgia is also just 1-4 against the spread in its last five games in Knoxville. The underdog has been a great play in this series, covering in all five of the last five meetings.

This is a good opportunity to fade the public. Nearly 70% of bets are on Georgia and if you wait long enough, you might be able to grab Tennessee as a 10-point home dog closer to kickoff.
