2017 NFL Odds: Are Cowboys favored to win NFC Conference? 5/31/17

Cowboys vs Redskins

Are the Cowboys still the favorites to win the NFC conference title in 2017? Let’s break down the odds.

The Favorite: Dallas Cowboys

According to oddsmakers, the Cowboys have 5/1 odds to win the NFC conference title in 2017. Despite an unbelivable season by rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas fell short in the playoffs last season. They were victims of Aaron Rodgers, who lifted the Packers to victory in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, knocking the Cowboys out in their first playoff game. While questions remain on defense, Dallas returns Prescott, Elliott, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and the best offensive line in football.

The Challenger: Green Bay Packers

Speaking of the Packers, they have the next-best odds to win the conference at 23/4. Injuries on both sides of the ball led to Green Bay’s demise a year ago, although so did a red-hot Atlanta offense. The Packers were smoked in the NFC Championship Game but thanks to Rodgers, they’ll also have a shot.

The Rest of the Field

The defending NFC champion Falcons are 6/1 to repeat as conference champs. Assuming they don’t allow their Super Bowl collapse to the Patriots eat away at their focus, Atlanta should be in the playoff mix again this year. Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman return to what should be an explosive offense again, plus the young defense is loaded with talent.

The Seahawks, meanwhile, are also 6/1 to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl next year, followed by the Giants at 10/1. The Panthers and Vikings are both 12/1, respectively, while the Cardinals are 15/1 and the Buccaneers are 20/1. The Eagles are also 20/1, while the Redskins and Saints are 25/1, respectively. The Lions are 35/1.

As for the teams with the longest odds, the Bears are 60/1, the Rams are 75/1, and the 49ers are 150/1.
