Western Michigan vs. Northern Illinois Predictions Against Spread 11/15/17

Western Michigan vs Northern Illinois

MAC football heads to Dekalb, IL tonight for a matchup between Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. Are the Huskies laying too many points to the Broncos?

The Odds: Western Michigan vs. Northern Illinois, 7:00 p.m. ET, Wednesday

According to oddsmakers, the Huskies are now 9-point home favorites versus the Broncos. Western Michigan opened as an 8-point underdog but the line was bet up a full point. As for the total, the number hit the board at 52.5 but was bet down slightly to 52.

The Broncos enter play with a 6-4 record and are 2-2 on the road, while the Huskies are 7-3 overall and 4-1 at home. From a betting standpoint, Western Michigan is 4-6 against the spread while Northern Illinois is 6-4 ATS.

Western Michigan Broncos

The Broncos have been a great road bet in recent history, covering in 18 of their last 25 games away from Kalamazoo. They’re also 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games played in November.

That said, they’re 1-4 at the betting window in their last five games following a win. They’re also winless at 0-4 against the number in their last four games after covering the point spread in their previous game. Finally, they’re 1-4 against the number in their last five games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.

Northern Illinois Huskies

The Huskies have been excellent in November, going 20-8-1 against the spread in their last 29 games played in this month. They’re also 15-6-1 against the number in their last 22 games coming off a win. They’re 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games played on Wednesday.

On the other side, the Huskies are just 1-7 against the spread in their last eight home games versus a team with a winning record. They’re also 1-4 at the betting window in their last five games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.

Our Prediction

The Broncos are too banged up for me to throw support behind them. Quarterback Jon Wassink remains out and so does running back Jarvion Franklin, who is averaging 5.1 yards per game. They’re missing too many good players to go into Dakalb and upset the Huskies on Senior night. NIU is also on a 16-4 ATS run in this series and had won seven in a row straight up until last year’s loss as a double-digit underdog.
