Yankees’ German takes loss vs. Astros
Domingo German yielded four runs (three earned) over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Astros on Monday. It didn’t look like German was long for this one after he gave up a three-run homer to J.D. Davis in the second inning, so he hung in there nicely under the circumstances. He fanned seven and walked a pair in the loss. All in all, it was an improvement after he was knocked around for six runs in each of his previous two starts. Still, we’d avoid him for mixed league purposes, especially with a start in Baltimore on tap for this weekend.
Orioles’ Cobb falls to 1-7 with loss to Nationals
Alex Cobb held the Nationals to three runs over seven innings on Monday, but still fell to 1-7 for the Orioles. Cobb would have five quality starts in six tries this month if only he had gotten one more out against the Rays on May 12. His numbers for the season remain dreadful since his first three starts were so bad, but he’s been rather effective against a fairly difficult schedule lately.
