MLB Predictions: Will Rays vs. Orioles be high-scoring Saturday? 7/1/17
Will today’s 4:05PM ET matchup between the Rays and Orioles be high-scoring for bettors?
The Matchup: Rays vs. Orioles, 4:05PM ET, Camden Yards
Tampa Bay enters play with a 42-40 record overall and is 18-22 on the road. Over the club’s last 10 games, the Rays are 5-5 but have dropped two of their last three games despite winning last night, 6-4.
On the other side, Baltimore is 39-40 on the year but 24-15 at home. The Orioles have also split over their last 10 games, but have also won four of their six despite losing Game 1 of this series on Friday night.
According to oddsmakers, the Orioles are -119 money line favorites to win today. That makes the Rays +110 money line underdogs to pull off the upset. The total, meanwhile, sits at 11 runs.
The Pitching Matchup: Jake Odorizzi (TB) vs. Dylan Bundy (BAL)
Odorizzi dealt with food poisoning in the days leading up to his start last Sunday against this very same Orioles team. That could help explain why Odorizzi allowed four runs in just 5 1/3 innings of work. Considering he was on IVs days before that outing, perhaps the youngster is due for a bounceback. He’s 4-3 on the year with a 4.00 ERA.
Bundy, meanwhile, has been solid this season. He’s 8-6 on the year and owns a 3.73 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. In his last start, he pitched seven innings of three-run ball against Tampa Bay. He allowed five hits, two home runs, struck out eight and walked four in the performance.
Our Prediction
The over has cashed in four of the last five meetings between these two teams and is 3-1-1 in Odorizzi’s last five road starts against the Orioles. The over is also 10-2 in the Rays’ last 12 divisional games and is 5-0 in Odorizzi’s last five starts overall. On the other side, the over has cashed in all four of Bundy’s last four starts overall.
Saturday MLB Prediction: Rays/Orioles over 11
