MLB Predictions: Will the Mariners beat the Tigers on the road? 4/25/17
Will Felix Hernandez be able to carry the Seattle Mariners to a road win when they take on the Detroit Tigers tonight at 7:10PM ET? Here’s our latest MLB Predictions.
THE ODDS
According to oddsmakers, the Mariners are favored on the road tonight, as they are getting odds of -120 to win. The Tigers are listed with a money line of +100 to win, while the over/under total is set at 8.5 runs.
PITCHING MATCHUP
Tonight’s pitching battle features Hernandez (2-1, 3.65 ERA) on the mound for the Mariners to face Jordan Zimmerman (1-1, 5.94) of the Tigers.
King Felix is making his fourth straight of the season. He has won his last two outings, but hasn’t quite been his usual dominant self. He has allowed double-digit hits in two of his starts and has just 20 strikeouts over 24.2 innings.
Zimmerman has given up five runs in each of his last two starts. He has yet to get past the sixth in his three starts and has 10 strikeouts with seven walks.
THE MARINERS
Seattle snapped a three-game losing streak with an 11-1 win at Oakland on Sunday. The Mariners are now 8-12 overall and 2-9 on the road. They are now putting up 4.5 runs per game while allowing 4.25.
Mitch Haniger is hitting .321 with four home runs and 16 RBI while Nelson Cruz and Robinson Cano both have three home runs and 14 RBI.
THE TIGERS
The Tigers have won back-to-back games in Minnesota. They now return home with a 10-8 overall record and a 5-2 mark at home. Detroit is really beat up, with Miguel Cabrera and J.D. Martinez on the DL and Jose Iglesias dealing with a concussion.
While Detroit puts up 4.67 runs per game, they allow 5.44 per contest due to a struggling bullpen. None of the starters in the lineup are hitting over .300. Justin Upton is batting .277 with three home runs and eight RBI to lead the starters.
MLB PREDICTIONS
King Felix hasn’t quite been King Felix thus far, but he should have another of his great performances today. The Detroit lineup is hampered by injuries and not hitting the ball well as is. Their bullpen is also a disaster and likely to give up some long balls to Seattle’s bit hitters.
