MLB Predictions: Is the Red Sox-Angels betting total set too high? 7/22/17

Red Sox vs Yankees

Is the betting total for Saturday night’s matchup between the Red Sox and Angels set too high?

The Matchup: Red Sox vs. Angels, 9:07PM ET, Angel Stadium of Anaheim

Boston enters play tonight with a 54-43 record on the year and is 25-25 on the road. That said, the Sox have struggled of late, dropping six of their last 10 games heading into Saturday’s action.

On the other side, the Angels are 47-50 on the year and 25-22 at home. They too have struggled over their last 10 games, dropping six out of those 10 contests.

According to oddsmakers, the Red Sox are -125 money line favorites to win tonight on the road. That makes the Angels +115 money line underdogs to pull off the upset. As for the total, the number opened at 8.5 but has been bet down to 8.

The Pitching Matchup: David Price (BOS) vs. J.C. Ramirez (LAA)

Price is coming off one of his finest outings of the season, picking up a win last Sunday night against the Yankees. In that performance, Price struck out eight and walked none while pitching eight shutout innings. The victory improved Price’s record to 5-2 and lowered his ERA to 3.39.

Ramirez, meanwhile, took the loss in his last outing, which came against the Rays on July 15. He pitched six innings while allowing four runs on eight hits. Ramirez walked one, struck out five and allowed one home run. He’s now 8-8 on the year and owns a 4.54 ERA.

Our Prediction

The under has been a great play in recent meetings between these two teams. It has cashed in six of the last eight games between the Sox and Halos and is also 4-1 in the last five meetings in Los Angeles. Furthermore, the under is 3-1-1 in Ramirez’s last five starts and is 6-2 in the Red Sox’ last eight games overall.

Saturday MLB Prediction: Red Sox/Angels under 8
