College Football Week 1 LSU vs. BYU Predictions 9/2/17
Will tonight’s LSU and BYU matchup fall under the betting total when the teams meet at 9:30PM ET?
The Matchup: LSU vs. BYU, 9:30PM ET, New Orleans, LA
According to oddsmakers, the Tigers are 15-point favorites to knock off the Cougars. As for the total, the number currently sits at 47.5 points.
In terms of line movement, LSU opened as a 10.5-point favorite before the number was bet up nearly five full points. The total, meanwhile, has climbed a full point to 47.5 after hitting the board at 46.5.
LSU Tigers
The Tigers went 6-2 under Ed Orgeron a year ago after firing Les Miles early in the season. The team finished with an 8-4 record and is projected to win another 8-9 games this season.
LSU’s biggest strength is its outstanding defense, as well as the rushing ability of Derrius Guice, a legit Heisman candidate. Now, what happens when a team like Alabama is able to shut down Guice? That remains to be seen. If the Tigers receive quality quarterback play, then this team could push for a national title appearance.
BYU Cougars
Kalani Sitake put together a solid first season with the Cougars a year ago, leading BYU to a 9-4 record. He heads into his second season with a good defense.
Can the offense generate enough big plays this year for the Cougars? That’s one of the key questions that BYU faces heading into the year. The team’s offense will be able to move the ball plenty in 2017, but it might have to be very methodical.
Our Prediction
The under is 12-3-2 in the Tigers’ last 17 games overall and is 8-3-1 in their last 12 games versus an opponent with a winning record.
On the other side, the under is a perfect 8-0 in the Cougars’ last eight non-conference games and a near-perfect 8-1 in their last nine games overall.
College Football Week 1 Prediction: LSU/BYU under 47.5
