College Football Predictions: Can Oklahoma State cover vs. South Alabama?

Oklahoma State vs Texas Tech

Can No. 11 Oklahoma State pick up another lopsided win tonight when it goes on the road to face South Alabama at 8PM ET? Here’s our College Football Predictions for this contest.

ODDS

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Oklahoma State is favored on the road, as the Cowboys are getting odds of -28 points against South Alabama. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 68 points. These two have no recent meetings to consider. Tonight’s game will take place from Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. The game will air live on ESPN2.

OKLAHOMA STATE

Oklahoma State started the year with an easy cover when it defeated Tulsa at home, 59-24. The Cowboys were a 19.5-point favorite coming into the contest. Not surprisingly, the Cowboys put up 640 yards on the Golden Hurricanes in the win, including 332 rushing yards. Leading the Cowboys in the win was Mason Rudolph, who had 303 passing yards with three touchdowns. Rudolph hit James Washingotn for six catches for 145 yards and two scores. Justice Hill led the ground game with 132 yards on 15 carries while J.D. King and La’Darren Brown combined for 187 yards on just 11 total carries. On the defensive side of the ball, the only real concerns for Oklahoma State is that it gave up 244 rushing yards to Tulsa in the win. However, the team comes in healthy, which is always a concern in these non-conference games.

SOUTH ALABAMA

South Alabama got its season started on Saturday with a 47-27 loss at Ole Miss, but the Panthers managed to cover the 21.5-point spread in the loss. The Panthers gave up 531 yards to the Rebels, including 429 passing yards, but they also were able to put up 374 yards and didn’t commit a turnover. Quarterback Cole Garvin was 19-of-31 passing for 204 yards with a touchdown and two rushing scores, while Tra Minter led the rushing attack with 83 yards on 12 carries.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS

This game could be tricky for Oklahoma State with it being on the road. South Alabama didn’t embarrass itself at Ole Miss, but the Rebels have their own issues. Trends don’t like the Panthers at home tonight. South Alabama has failed to cover following its last eight covers and they are just 3-10 ATS against their last 13 winning teams. Oklahoma State has covered in four of its last five road games and in four of its last five non-conference games. Look for the Oklahoma State offense to overwhelm South Alabama tonight and cruise.
