College Basketball Predictions: Will Texas upset Duke? 11/24/17
Can No. 1 Duke avoid a letdown performance when it takes on Texas today at 5:30PM ET in the PK80-Motion Tournament? Here’s our College Basketball Predictions for this game.
ODDS
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Duke is favored in today’s game, as the Blue Devils are getting odds of -6.5 points against Texas. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 147 points. Today’s game takes place from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon and will air live on ESPN.
DUKE
Duke is coming off a 99-81 win over Portland State last night to improve to 6-0 on the season. The Blue Devils are 3-1 against the spread, failing to cover a 24.5-point spread in the win over Portland State. Duke is putting up 92.2 points per game this season while allowing 70.5 points per contest. Marvin Bagley III is leading Duke with 19 points and 10 rebounds per game while Wendell Carter Jr. is adding 13.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
TEXAS
Texas is coming off a 61-48 win over Butler last night to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Longhorns are just 1-0 against the spread, as last night’s win was their first lined game. Texas is averaging 81 points per game this season while allowing 56 points per game. The Longhorns are led by Mohamed Bamba, who is averaging 11.3 points, 10 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game while Dylan Osetkowski is adding 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREDICTIONS
Duke has won its last four meetings with Texas, covering the spread in three of the four wins. Duke was actually trailing Portland State midway through last night’s game, so the Blue Devils aren’t exactly playing crisp right now, but they should be up for the challenge of facing a big name like Texas. Bamba leads a good defensive charge for the Longhorns, but I think Duke has too many scoring options for Texas to keep pace. The public betting is siding with Duke today and I agree.
