Alabama remains favored to win National Championship heading into Week 2
Heading into Week 2 of the college football season, the Alabama Crimson Tide remain favored to win the national championship.
Alabama Crimson Tide
After beating Florida State in its opener last Saturday night, the Tide are now 5/2 to win the national title. Sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 10-of-18 passes for just 96 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 55 yards on 15 carries in the team’s 24-7 win over the Seminoles. FSU has one of the stiffest defenses in the nation, so better days are ahead for Hurts.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes have the next-best odds to win the national championship at 11/2. Redshirt senior J.T. Barrett completed 20-of-35 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 1 yards and an additional score last week against Indiana. After struggling in the first half, Ohio State eventually below out its Big Ten rivals, 49-21.
USC Trojans
The Trojans received a scare from Western Michigan in their season-opener but still have excellent odds to win a national title at 8/1. Redshirt sophomore Sam Darnold completed 22-of-33 passes for 289 yards and two interceptions in USC’s 49-31 win over the Broncos. The Trojans will receive another stiff test this Saturday night when they take on Stanford.
Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners have no problem dispatching UTEP in their opener and are now 14/1 to win this season’s national championship. Heisman hopeful Baker Mayfield completed 19-of-20 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns in the Sooner’s 56-7 win over the Miners. Grant Calcaterra, Mark Andrews and CeeDee Lamb all scored touchdowns.
