Public Betting Information & Odds

Oddsmakers from online sportsbooks currently list the Mariners as a -125 favorite. As of this writing, 57% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Rays to beat the Mariners on the moneyline.

Rays’ Archer works six shutout innings vs. A’s in last start

Chris Archer worked six shutout innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Athletics. Tampa Bay won the game, but it took 13 innings, and the victory went to reliever Ryne Stanek. Archer did his part, though, scattering four hits and two walks while striking out seven. The 29-year-old right-hander has now looked sharp in three straight starts, though his season ERA is still up at 4.29. He’ll try to keep it rolling next time out against the Mariners.

Mariners’ Gonzales doesn’t allow earned run in win

Marco Gonzales didn’t allow an earned run over 6 2/3 innings in a 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Monday. Gonzales did give up one run, but it was unearned as it scored on a passed ball from Mike Zunino. He did walk four, but he was able to make the key pitches when necessary, and he fanned four as well. Gonzales has been the Mariners second best pitcher as of late behind James Paxton, which is something most (anyone) didn’t predict. He’ll take a 3.60 ERA into his next start on Saturday against the Rays in Safeco Field.

MLB Betting Trends

Tampa Bay

The Rays are 1-7 in their last eight games versus the Mariners and are winless in their last seven games played in Seattle. They’re also 1-5 in Archer’s last six starts versus the Mariners.

Seattle

The Mariners are 5-2 in Gonzales’ last seven starts and are 5-2 in his last seven outings coming off four days of rest.

Prediction:

The under is a near-perfect 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams. It is also 4-0 in Gonzales’ last four starts and is 7-2 in the Mariners’ last 10 home games.

The Pick: Rays/Mariners under 7.5
