Oddsmakers from online sportsbooks currently list the Astros as a -250 favorite. As of this writing, 67% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Astros to beat the Rays on the moneyline.

Rays’ Eovaldi charged with five runs in loss to Yankees

Nathan Eovaldi was charged with five runs over 7 1/3 innings in a loss to the Yankees on Friday. Eovaldi was better than the line showed, as he held the Yankees to two runs through seven innings before running out of gas in the eighth. He left with the bases loaded, setting up Gary Sanchez to plate three runs on a double against Jonny Venters. Eovaldi allowed eight hits against his former team while striking out five batters and walking just one. He had 13 swinging strikes in his 101 pitches. Eovaldi now has a 4.63 ERA and 16/3 K/BB ratio in 23 1/3 innings over four starts since making his return from Tommy John surgery.

Astros’ Morton strikes out nine in uneven start vs. Royals

Charlie Morton fanned nine hitters and gave up three runs over six innings in a win over the Royals on Wednesday. Morton allowed only four hits, but he once again had issues with control; walking four Kansas City hitters. That gives him 10 in his last two starts after only registering six walks in the previous four. Fortunately, he’s missing plenty of bats, and he owns 105 strikeouts in 82 2/3 to go along with a 2.94 ERA on the 2018 season. Morton is an excellent streaming option when he takes on the Rays on Wednesday.

MLB Betting Trends

Tampa Bay

The Rays are now 4-1 in their last five games played at Minute Maid Park. They’re also 4-1 in their last five games versus the Astros overall.

Houston

The over is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams.

Prediction:

Even though the Rays have had success versus the Astros, I expect Houston to rebound tonight. They’re 5-2 in Morton’s last seven starts and have won nine of his last 13 home outings. The Rays, meanwhile, are 2-10 in their last 12 road games and are just 1-9 in their last 10 road games versus a right-handed starter.

The Pick: Houston Astros -1.5
