Stanley Cup Predictions: Will Predators even series vs. Penguins? 6/5/17
Can the Nashville Predators even up the Stanley Cup Finals when they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 tonight at 8PM ET? Here’s our Stanley Cup Predictions for the contest.
GAME 4 ODDS
According to oddsmakers, the Predators are favored at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -155 to win. The Penguins are listed with a money line of +135 to prevail, while the over/under total for the game is set at 5.5 goals.
RECORDS
The Penguins won the first two games in this series before it moved to Nashville. The Predators got on the board in Game 3 on Saturday night, picking up a 5-1 win over the Penguins.
Nashville is now 54-34-13 overall and 32-9-9 at home. Pittsburgh is 64-27-13 overall and 24-20-7 on the road.
GAME 3 RECAP
Nashville actually fell behind 1-0 in Game 3 before rattling off five straight goals. In the second period, Roman Josi, Frederick Gaudreau and James Neal all scored to make it 3-1. Craig Smith and Mattias Ekholm each added a goal in the third period.
For the contest, Nashville once again out-shot the Penguins (33-28) and had more hits (33-26) than Pittsburgh. After allowing a quick goal, Pekka Rinne got back on track. He made 27 saves in the win while Matt Murray made 28 saves on the 33 shots he faced.
STANLEY CUP PREDICTIONS
The Predators continue to have the blueprint to win games, as they are getting more shots and being more physical than Pittsburgh. The formula didn’t quite work on the road, but clearly did at home. I don’t see the Penguins being able to change that formula in Game 4.
Nashville is going to be the more physical team in this series and that will ultimately take its toll on the Pens. Pittsburgh didn’t have a lot to offer in Game 3. They now face a Preds team with a confident goalie once again and a raucous crowd behind him.
