Mariners’ LeBlanc shelled by Astros in last start

Wade LeBlanc was shelled for seven runs on 10 hits in just 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Astros on Wednesday. LeBlanc gave up three homers in this one — two of them to Marwin Gonzalez — and while he didn’t walk anyone, there were plenty of baserunners on top of the homers. LeBlanc has been a pleasant surprise for the Mariners, but when you throw in the mid-80s to one of the most powerful lineups in baseball, you risk getting hit hard. That’s what happened Wednesday. It ups his season ERA to 3.95 on the year. LeBlanc will try to rebound in his next start against the Rangers on Monday.

Rangers’ Perez escapes with no-decision vs. Diamondbacks

Martin Perez allowed four runs (one earned) on six hits over five innings of work in a no-decision against the D-backs on Monday. Perez coughed up a go-ahead three-run homer to Steven Sousa with two outs in the fifth inning. All three of the runs were unearned thanks to a throwing error by third baseman Adrian Beltre earlier in the frame. The Rangers offense managed to get him off the hook by outscoring Arizona 6-1 over the final four innings. Perez struck out five batters and issued a pair of walks. The 27-year-old lefty is 2-4 with a 6.50 ERA in nine starts. He will face the Orioles at home on Sunday in his next outing.

MLB Betting Trends

Seattle

The Mariners have lost five of their last seven divisional games.

Texas

The Rangers have won nine of their last 13 games when opening a new series.

Prediction:

The Mariners are really scuffling. They’ve lost seven of their last 10 overall and six of seven on the road. They’re also just 1-8 in their last nine games coming off a win and don’t have a victory in their last four road games when facing a left-handed starter. The Rangers, meanwhile, have won seven of their last 10 games and are 4-1 in Perez’s last five home starts versus the Mariners.

The Pick: Texas Rangers +110
