Saints vs. Falcons NFL Week 14 Predictions Against the Spread 12/7/17
Will the New Orleans Saints pick up a huge road victory tonight when they visit their NFC South rivals the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday? Kickoff is set for 8:25 p.m. ET.
The Odds: Saints at Falcons, 8:25 p.m. ET, Atlanta
According to oddsmakers, New Orleans are 1-point road favorites for tonight’s game. The Saints opened as a 2-point underdog before the line jumped the fence. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 55 but dropped to 51.5.
New Orleans enters play tonight with a 9-3 record and is 3-2 on the road this season. Atlanta, meanwhile, is 7-5 overall and 3-3 at home. From a betting standpoint, the Saints are 8-4 against the spread and 3-2 ATS on the road. The Falcons are 5-7 at the betting window and just 3-3 ATS at home.
New Orleans Saints Injury Report
Mark Ingram is questionable with a toe injury but should play. Offensive lineman Andrus Peat (undisclosed), meanwhile, is out, as is tight end Coby Fleener (concussion). Cornerback Marshon Lattimore (ankle) is questionable but has a good chance to play. Terron Armstead, however, is probable.
Atlanta Falcons Injury Report
The Falcons should have two corners back that didn’t play a week ago in their loss to the Vikings. Desmond Trufant will play tonight after sitting out last Sunday with a concussion, while Brian Poole is questionable with a back injury but has a good chance to play.
That said, guard Andy Levitre is out with a torn triceps so the Falcons’ offensive line is vulnerable. Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon is also questionable with an illness.
Our Prediction
This is a bad matchup for the Falcons because of the way the Saints can run the ball. New Orleans is averaging a whopping 142.6 running yards per game, which is third in the NFL. Ingram and Alvin Kamara form one of the best1-2 combos in the league and those two players give the Saints the advantage tonight.
Why? Because in all five of Atlanta’s losses this season, each opponent rushed for over 100 yards. There have been only two opponents to rush for over 100 yards against the Falcons and lose. Those teams were the Cowboys, who were banged up when they faced the Falcons in Week 10, and the Seahawks, who got most of their rushing yards from quarterback Russell Wilson, who nearly led Seattle to a win anyway.
The Saints are not just a good play tonight, but a great play.
