NHL Prediction: Will the Senators beat the Rangers in Game 2? 4/29/17

NHL Predictions

Will the Ottawa Senators pick up another win at home when they host the New York Rangers later today at 3PM ET in Game 2? Here’s our NHL Prediction.

GAME 2 ODDS

According to the latest oddsmakers, New York is actually the slight favorite on the road, as the Rangers are getting odds of -115 to win, while the Senators have a money line of -105 to win. The over/under total for this afternoon’s game is listed at 5 goals.

RECORDS

The Senators took a 1-0 lead in the series thanks to a 2-1 win in Game 2 on Thursday night. The Senators have now won four of their last five meetings with the Rangers. New York is 52-30-7 overall and 29-13-3 on the road. Ottawa comes into this game 49-29-11 overall and 24-12-9 at home.

GAME 1 RECAP

The Rangers established a 1-0 lead in the series opener when Ryan McDonagh scored early in the second period. The Senators were able to answer later in the second period on a Ryan Dzingel goal and then Erik Karlsson got the game-winner in the third period with four minutes to play.

Ottawa had a 43-35 advantage in shots in the game while the Rangers had a 37-30 edge in hits. Henrik Lundqvist did what he could, stopping 41 shots. Craig Anderson made 34 for the Senators.

NHL PREDICTION

The two goalies played very well in Game 1 and could do more of the same today in Game 2. I will go with the Senators at home, as Anderson should have a stronger performance on his home ice. The Senators managed more shots and if they can do that again today, it should counter the strong play of Lundqvist. I’ll take my chances on the home underdog.

NHL Prediction – Ottawa Senators -105
