NHL Prediction: Will the Capitals take Game 7 vs. the Penguins? 5/10/17

NHL Prediction

Who will come away with the big Game-7 win when the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals close their series tonight at 7:30PM ET? Here’s our NHL Prediction for the winner-take-all contest.

GAME 7 ODDS

According to oddsmakers, the Capitals are the clear favorite in this game, as they are getting odds of -200 to win. The Penguins are listed with a money line of +165 to win, while the over/under total is set at 5.5 goals.

RECORDS

Washington went to Pittsburgh for Game 6 and picked up an impressive 5-2 win on Monday. The series is now at 3-3.

Washington sits at 62-22-10 overall and 35-9-3 at home while Pittsburgh is 57-24-12 overall and 22-17-7on the road.

GAME 6 RECAP

The Capitals dominated Game 6, taking a 5-0 lead on their way to a 3-goal victory. T.J. Oshie started the scoring in the first period and Andre Burakovsky added a goal in the second period. He would score again in the third, joining John Carlson and Nicklas Backstrom.

Pittsburgh never pulled Marc-Andre Fleury, but he stopped just 21 shots. Braden Holtby only faced 18 shots, stopping 16 of them.

NHL PREDICTION

I haven’t had a great time with this series. Usually Washington is the team to establish an early series lead and then choke. This time around, the Penguins appear to be doing that. Still, the pressure is now back on Washington for Game 7. The Capitals are at home and many expect them to finish things off. However, Washington is just 4-10 all-time in Game 7s.

With the Capitals so heavily favored, I don’t want to risk my money on them. The Penguins have won multiple games in Washington already, so I think it’s within reason that they can do it again as a big underdog.
