NHL Prediction: Can the Senators upset at the Penguins at home? 5/17/17

NHL Predictions

Will the Pittsburgh Penguins be able to go on the road and pick up a key win over the Ottawa Senators when the two meet in Game 3 tonight at 8PM ET? Here’s our NHL Prediction for Game 3.

GAME 3 ODDS

According to oddsmakers, the Penguins are the favorite on the road, as they are getting odds of -135 to win. The Senators are listed with odds of +120 at home, while the over/under total has been set at 5 goals.

RECORDS

The first two games of this series were both low scoring and at Ottawa. The Senators won the opener, 2-1 in OT, and the Penguins followed that up with a 1-0 victory at home in Game 2.

Pittsburgh is now 59-24-13 overall and 23-17-7 on the road. Ottawa is 53-32-11 overall and 26-12-9 at home.

GAME 2 RECAP

Game 2 was quite uneventful. The two teams played two scoreless periods before Phil Kessel finally found the net 13:05 into the final frame. Ottawa wasn’t able to find the equalizer over the last minutes of the game, as Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 23 shots he faced in Game 2.

Corey Anderson played well as well, making 28 saves on 29 shots. The Penguins were able to win most key stats in Game 2, out-hitting Ottawa 50-36 while winning 37-of-60 faceoffs.

NHL PREDICTION

The Senators have done a good job of limiting the Pittsburgh offense through two games. The problem for Ottawa is, it doesn’t have much of an offense itself to capitalize on that. The Senators didn’t give Fleury much of a challenge in Game 2. I think that can change with the series moving to Ottawa.

A home crowd can spark and offensive surge or a defensive lapse for Pittsburgh. The Penguins have been known to allow some goals this season and I think Ottawa will find the net a few times tonight. The Senators should be able to maintain their defensive effort and keep the Pens from stealing a road win tonight.

NHL Prediction – Ottawa Senators +120
