NHL Prediction: Can the Senators close out the Rangers? 5/9/17

NHL Predictions

Can the Ottawa Senators advance to the conference finals when they hit the road to face the New York Rangers tonight at 7:30 PM ET in Game 6? Here’s our NHL Prediction for Tuesday.

GAME 6 ODDS

According to oddsmakers, the Rangers are listed as the favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -180 to win. The Senators are listed with a money line of +160 to prevail. The over/under total for the game is set at 5 goals.

RECORDS

The Senators took a 3-2 lead in the series thanks to a 5-4 OT victory. The home team has won all five games in this series thus far.

Ottawa is 51-31-11 overall and 25-19-2 on the road. New York is 54-30-9 overall and 25-17-4 at home.

GAME 5 RECAP

Ottawa trailed 2-0 and 4-3 in Game 5, but rallied in both instances. Derick Brassard scored the game-tying goal with 1:26 to play in regulation and then Kyle Turris got the winning goal 6:28 into overtime.

Neither goalie had a great effort, as Henrik Lundqvist only made 32 saves on 37 shots while Craig Anderson had 29 saves on 33 shots. Both men allowed goals that could have been stopped.

NHL PREDICTION

The home team has been the play all series and I don’t see why the Rangers won’t let that continue tonight. Ottawa had more shots, hits and faceoffs won in Game 5 of the series. Despite that, they barely snuck out with a victory.

I think the Rangers are the better team when they are on their game, but they have shown inconsistency on the road. At home in this series, New York has dominated Ottawa for a pair of 4-1 wins. Look for the Rangers to do more of the same tonight.

NHL Prediction – New York Rangers -180
