NFL Week 8: Broncos vs. Chiefs Predictions Against the Spread 10/30/17
Will the Broncos cover the point spread against their AFC West rivals the Chiefs tonight on Monday Night Football?
The Odds: Broncos at Chiefs, 8:30PM ET, Monday, October 30
According to oddsmakers, Kansas City is a 7-point home favorite tonight against Denver. The line also opened at 7, so there hasn’t been any movement for this matchup. The total, meanwhile, sits at 42 points after hitting the board at 44.5.
Denver enters play with a 3-3 record and is 2-3 against the spread. Kansas City, meanwhile, is 5-2 both straight up and at the betting window.
Denver Broncos
Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) is questionable for Week 8 against the Chiefs. Sanders missed practice all week making it highly unlikely he plays on Monday. In addition to Sanders, Broncos LB Todd Davis (ankle), DE Derek Wolfe (foot, hand), and TE Virgil Green are questionable as well.
Kansas City Chiefs
Chiefs pass-rush Justin Houston (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the Broncos. Houston was held out of Saturday’s practice with knee soreness. It sounds like it was more of a maintenance day despite the questionable tag. The Chiefs expect Houston to play on Monday night.
Andy Reid also says Mitch Morse (foot) has a “good chance” to play Monday night against the Broncos. Morse has been sidelined since Week 2. His return will upgrade an interior line that’s had multiple injuries. The Chiefs could also get RG Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (knee) back this week.
Our Prediction
The Broncos have a mess on their hands on offense but injuries have depleted the Chiefs defense. Even though Trevor Siemian has turned back into pumpkin, he should move the ball against a Kansas City defense that collapsed last Thursday against Oakland. Plus, if any defense is going to at least slow Alex Smith, Tyreek Hill and Kareem Hunt, it should be Denver.
In the last eight meetings between these two teams in Kansas City, the Broncos are 6-2 against the spread. The underdog is also 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams while the road squad is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings.
