NFL Week 4 Predictions: Will Seahawks cover huge spread vs. Colts? 10/1/17
Will the Seahawks cover as a double-digit favorite tonight when they host the Colts for Sunday Night Football?
The Matchup: Colts at Seahawks, 8:30 p.m. ET, Sunday
Indianapolis picked up its first victory of the season last week by beating Cleveland. That improved the Colts’ record to 1-2 on the year. On the other side, the Seahawks fell to 1-2 with a loss in Tennessee. Seattle has yet to cover the spread in three tries this season.
According to oddsmakers, Seattle is a 12.5-point favorite versus Indianapolis. The Colts opened as 12.5-point underdogs and despite the line climbing as high as 13, the number has settled. As for the total, the number hit the board at 41 but has been bet up to 42.5.
Colts Betting Trends
The Colts have covered the spread in 11 of their last 15 games played in Week 4 and are 26-8 against the number in their last 34 games against a team with a losing record. That said, they’re just 1-7 against the number in their last eight games after scoring than 30 points in their previous game and are 0-4 at the betting window in their last four games coming off a win.
Seahawks Betting Trends
The Seahawks, meanwhile, have failed to cover the spread in their last four games. They’re also just 3-7-1 against the spread in their last 11 games played in October, but are 5-2 against the number in their last seven home games. They’ve also covered the spread in seven of their last nine games coming off a loss.
OUR PREDICTION:
Seattle’s offensive line has been a massive issue again this season but the Seahawks turned things around offensively last week. Russell Wilson finally got on the move more and wound up making big plays in the second half. If Doug Baldwin (groin, questionable) can’t play it would be a significant blow. But if he does, the Wilson and Co. should find plenty of room to attack an Indianapolis defense that ranks 30th in points allowed (30.0 ppg).
NFL Sunday Night Football Prediction: Seattle Seahawks -12.5
