The Latest on the Chiefs
Jeremy Maclin admitted recently that 2016 “wasn’t up to my standards.” He told the Kansas City Star: “I just…I didn’t play as well as I could have. And by not playing well, I feel like I let my team down. And that’s the most important part of it.” Maclin was slowed by a groin injury for much of last season.
Meanwhile, new running back C.J. Spiller says he feels the best he has in years. Going on 30, Spiller will compete with Charcandrick West for No. 3 duties in Kansas City. Spencer Ware is expected to be the starter.
Latest on the Patriots
Tight end Rob Gronkowski has agreed to a restructured contract. According to Rotoworld, at the highest level, Gronk’s salary will more than double to $10.75 million if he plays 90 percent of the Patriots’ snaps, catches 80 passes, goes for 1,200 yards or makes the All-Pro team. Gronkowski has two more years on his contract.
Also, Tom Brady’s agent Don Yee recently denied that his client suffered a concussion last season.
“Tom was not diagnosed with a concussion last year,” Yee insisted. “Many of the protocols and safeguards still are evolving, and it’s obviously a good thing the organization and everyone close to him is vigilant and always looking out for his health.”
Brady’s wife Gisele Bundchen stirred up controversy by claiming her husband suffered a concussion last season. Both people could be right in this situation. Brady may have suffered a head injury that was not diagnosed as a concussion. Either way, Brady was able to lead the Patriots to yet another Super Bowl victory.
