NFL Predictions: Will Redskins upset Eagles on Monday Night? 10/23/17
Will the Redskins upset the red-hot Eagles when the NFC East rivals clash tonight on Monday Night Football?
The Setup: Redskins (3-2) at Eagles (5-1)
Washington enters play off a 26-24 win over the 49ers in which it failed to cover as a 12-point home favorite. The Redskins are now 3-2 on the year but just 2-3 against the spread. They have failed to cover in back-to-back games.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, has been outstanding both on the field and at the betting window. The Eagles’ lone loss of the season came in Week 2 at Kansas City when the Chiefs were playing like the best team in football. Since that loss, Philly has rattled off four straight wins and has covered in three straight games coming into tonight’s matchup.
The Odds: Redskins vs. Eagles
According to oddsmakers, the Eagles are now 4.5-point home favorites to beat the Redskins. Philadelphia opened as 4-point home favorites but the line climbed a half point.
As for the total, the number hit the board at 48.5 but was bet up to 49 at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.
Our Prediction
The Redskins have been a great play for bettors in this series. Washington has covered the spread in six of its last seven games versus the Eagles and in eight of its last 10 games in Philadelphia. The underdog is also 5-2 against the number in the last seven meetings between these two teams.
Washington has also covered the spread in seven of its last nine games when facing an opponent that owns a winning record. In their last 13 road games, the Redskins are an impressive 10-3 at the betting window as well. They’re 5-1 against the spread in their last six games coming off an ATS loss.
Carson Wentz and Co. have been excellent this season but Kirk Cousins has flown under the radar thus far. Washington is banged-up, but Jay Gruden’s team also has revenge on its mind.
