NFL Predictions: Will the Jaguars upset the Titans? 9/15/17

NFL Predictions

Can the Jacksonville Jaguars take charge in the AFC South when they play host to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at 1PM ET? Here’s our NFL Predictions for Sunday’s clash.

ODDS

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Tennessee is favored on the road in this game, as the Titans are getting odds of -1.5 points against the Jaguars. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 42 points. The home team has won six straight in this series and the Jags are 4-1-1 against the spread in those six meetings. Sunday’s game takes place from EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida and will air live on CBS.

JAGUARS

Jacksonville had one of the most surprising performances in Week 1, dominating the Texans in Houston for a 29-7 win as a 5.5-point underdog. The Jags were dominant on defense, holding Houston to just 203 total yards while racking up four turnovers and 10 sacks. Calais Campbell had four sacks to lead the way while Dante Fowler Jr. had a sack and the defensive touchdown. The Jacksonville offense wasn’t anything special, but didn’t have any major mistakes. Rookie Leonard Fournette rushed for 100 yards on 26 carries in his debut while Blake Bortles threw for 125 yards on 11 of 21 passing. The Jags did take a big blow on the injury front, as Allen Robinson blew out his knee and will miss the season. Jalen Ramsey, the second-year cornerback, is listed as questionable for this game due to an ankle injury.

TITANS

Tennessee started its season with a 26-16 loss at home to Oakland as a 2.5-point favorite. The Titans didn’t commit a turnover, but just couldn’t finish drives. Oakland’s offense managed a few big plays along the way. Tennessee didn’t have its usual running dominance, as the Titans finished with just 95 yards on the ground. DeMarco Murray was held to 44 yards on 12 carries. Marcus Mariota was 25 of 41 passing for 256 yards and had a rushing touchdown.

NFL PREDICTIONS

The Titans didn’t look that great last Sunday, but they didn’t look all that good in the preseason either. Tennessee was held under 10 point in three of four preseason games. While that means little, it does show that this offense has yet to find its stride. That could be a problem against a Jacksonville defense that looks like it has a chip on its shoulder. The Jags had a ferocious pass rush against Houston while the offense played ball control and didn’t hurt the team. The Jaguars aren’t getting much respect from oddsmakers, but they own this series at the betting window.
