NFL Predictions: Will Antonio Brown lead NFL in receiving yards? 7/30/17
Which wide receiver will lead the NFL in receiving yards this upcoming season? Will it be Antonio Brown?
The Favorites: Antonio Brown (7/2) & Julio Jones (7/2)
According to oddsmakers, Brown and Jones are co-favorites to lead the league in receiving yards in 2017. Both receivers have odds of 7/2 to finish the upcoming NFL season with more receiving yards than any other wideout. Last season, Jones finished second with 1,409 yards to the Colts’ T.Y. Hilton, who had 1,448 yards on the year. Brown was fifth with 1,284.
The Challenger: Odell Beckham Jr. (13/2)
Behind Jones and Brown is Beckham, who has odds of 13/2 to finish with the most receiving yards in 2017. Beckham is coming off another outstanding season, posting 101 receptions for 1,367 yards. He was also targeted 169 times on the year, second to only Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans (175).
Our Prediction:
If he can stay healthy, there’s a good chance Jones finished with over 1,500 yards in 2017. Health is always a concern with the Falcons receiver, but Jones will see plenty of opportunities to rack up yards in Atlanta’s explosive passing attack. MVP Matt Ryan is coming off a career season and Jones remains his favorite target.
Plus, with Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman in the rushing game, opponents can’t always commit extra defenders to stopping Jones. Even when they do double-team him, he has shown a propensity to beat that coverage anyway. He’s a complete receiver.
Brown would be my second choice to win this prop bet, while A.J. Green of Cincinnati would be my third. The Bengals wide receiver is a 15/1 long shot to lead the league in receiving, which are great odds for bettors. Green is coming off an injury-plagued season but he should rebound.
