NFL: Dolphins vs. Panthers Predictions Against the Spread 11/13/17
The Carolina Panthers host the Miami Dolphins tonight on Monday Night Football. Is the under a good play for bettors in this non-conference matchup?
The Odds: Dolphins at Panthers, 8:30 p.m. ET, Monday
According to oddsmakers, Carolina is an 8.5-point favorite to beat Miami tonight. The Dolphins opened as a 7.5-point road underdog before the line climbed a full point. As for the total, the number hit the board at 39.5 but was bet down a full point to 38.5.
Miami enters play with a 4-4 record overall and a 2-2 mark on the road this year. Carolina, meanwhile, is 6-3 overall and 2-2 at home. From a betting standpoint, the Dolphins are 3-3-2 against the spread while the Panthers are 5-4.
Miami Dolphins
Ndamukong Suh will be in uniform tonight after he was removed from the injury report. The defensive lineman missed some practice time this week, but his status wasn’t in doubt.
On the other side of the ball, running back Damien Williams is listed as questionable for tonight. He’s dealing with an illness but is on track to play after practicing fully on Saturday. Assuming he plays, he’ll share a backfield with Kenyan Drake.
Carolina Panthers
Center Ryan Kalil can’t seem to get healthy for the Panthers. He has been ruled out for tonight due to a neck injury. Receiver Curtis Samuel, meanwhile, was removed from the injury report. He practiced fully the last two days and will play a role with Kelvin Benjamin now in Buffalo.
Our Prediction
I don’t have a good feel for the side in this game but I see value in the total. The Panthers defense has been one of the best in the league and the Dolphins have already been shut out twice this season. They did score 24 points a week ago, but that came against an inferior Raiders defense and eight of those points came in the final minute of the game.
I expect Carolina to establish its ground game, dominant time of possession and eat clock. This is a low total so any sort of quick score off a turnover or special teams touchdown would hurt, but if the game plays straight up I see a 23-13 final.
