NFL Divisional Round Playoff Predictions: Titans at Patriots 1/13/18

Colts vs Patriots

Will Saturday night’s NFL Divisional Round matchup between the Titans and Patriots turn high-scoring?

The Odds: Titans at Patriots, 8:15 p.m. ET, Saturday

According to oddsmakers, New England is a 13.5-point home favorite to beat Tennessee. As for the total, the number hit the board at 47 but has climbed to 48.

Tennessee enters play with a 10-7 record after upsetting Kansas City in the Wild Card round. The Titans were 4-5 on the road this year and 4-5 against the spread away from Nashville. Tennessee has been a decent betting team, however, going 9-7-1 against the spread in 2017.

New England, meanwhile, was 13-3 during the regular season and 6-2 at home this year. From a betting standpoint, the Patriots finished 11-5 against the spread and 5-3 against the number.

Tennessee Titans Injury Report

DeMarco Murray will miss today’s game due to a knee injury. DaQuan Jones (biceps), Aaron Wallace (back), LeShaun Sims (hamstring) and Tajae’ Sharpe (Foot) are all out for the season.

New England Patriots Injury Report

Alan Branch (knee) and Chris Hogan (shoulder) are all probable. Kyle Van Noy, meanwhile, is questionable with a calf injury.

Our Prediction

I firmly believe New England will score into the high-20s tonight or even the low-30s. The two things Tennessee struggles with the most is opposing running backs and tight ends. That will be an issue tonight against Dion Lewis and Rob Gronkowski. It’s a horrible matchup for the Titans, as the Patriots love to throw to their backs and Gronkowski is a matchup nightmare.

In the last five meetings between these two teams in Foxborough, the over is 4-1. The over is also 7-0-1 in the Patriots’ last eight Divisional playoff games, is 6-0 in their last six playoff home games, and is 7-1 in their last eight playoff games overall.
