Yankees’ Adams to make major league debut vs. Red Sox
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Yankees plan to call up Chance Adams to make his major league debut Saturday in Boston. It’s not the setting the Yanks envisioned for Adams’ debut, but they didn’t really have a choice. Adams holds a disappointing 4.50 ERA at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, but he’s struck out over a batter per inning and went 7 1/3 scoreless frames in his last start. The soon-to-be 24-year-old remains an intriguing arm over the long haul, but this should just be a spot start.
Red Sox’ Eovaldi pitches seven scoreless innings in Boston debut
Nathan Eovaldi held the Twins to just four hits across seven shutout innings in his Red Sox debut Sunday as Boston won 3-0. Eovaldi was hammered for eight runs in a start against the Twins earlier this month when he was still with the Rays, but he got revenge in this one. Eddie Rosario hit a one-out double in the top of the first inning and that was the only time the Twins reached second base against Eovaldi. The hard-throwing right-hander struck out five, didn’t issue a single walk and needed just 86 pitches to cruise through his seven frames. Eovaldi will get his first taste of the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry from the other side when he takes on his former team next weekend.

The Yankees are an impressive 40-14 in their last 54 games coming off a loss.
Boston
The Red Sox are 60-22 in their last 82 games versus a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Yankees are in a funk that goes behind this current series. They’re 1-5 in their last six road games and 1-5 in their last six games versus an opponent that owns a winning record. They’re also just 1-4 in their last five divisional games and 1-4 in their last five road games versus a right-handed starter.
On the other side, the Red Sox are 40-15 in their last 55 home games and 38-15 in their last 53 games overall. They’re playing with an edge in this series and smell blood in the water.
The Pick: Boston Red Sox -150
