NBA Prediction: Will the Warriors roll past the Spurs in Game 2? 5/16/17
With Kawhi Leonard out, will the San Antonio Spurs be able to compete with the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals tonight at 9PM ET? Here’s our NBA Prediction for tonight’s clash.
GAME 2 ODDS
According to oddsmakers, the Warriors are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -14 points against the Spurs. The over/under total for the game is listed at 209.5 points.
RECORDS
The Warriors managed to rally to take Game 1 of the series following the injury to Leonard. Golden State holds a 1-0 lead in the series after the 113-111 victory.
The Warriors now come into tonight’s game with a 76-15 overall record and 45-43-3 mark against the spread. They are also 41-5 at home. San Antonio is 69-26 overall, 33-14 on the road and 49-44-2 against the spread.
GAME 1 RECAP
Game 1 on Sunday saw the Warriors overcome a 23-point deficit in the second half. San Antonio led 78-55 with 7:54 left in the third quarter when Leonard had to leave the game after re-injuring his bad ankle. Leonard landed on the foot of Zaza Pachulia to aggravate the injury. The Spurs were calling it a dirty play as Pachulia didn’t give Leonard any landing room for a jump shot.
Leonard had 26 points and eight rebounds before leaving the game. Golden State took over after the injury, especially Kevin Durant. Durant finished with 34 points while Stephen Curry had 40, including 7 3-pointers.
NBA PREDICTION
The Warriors lit up after Leonard left Game 1 and that has to be a major concern tonight for the Spurs with Leonard out. The Spurs stepped up without him in Game 6 against the Rockets, but the Warriors aren’t the Rockets. Golden State could be without Andre Iguodala tonight because of a knee injury, but his loss shouldn’t keep the likes of Curry and Durant from scoring at will.
Despite the Game-1 win, Golden State didn’t shoot all that well from the arc. Klay Thompson had just six points. I would expect his shooting to improve and for the Warriors to fly past the short-handed Spurs tonight.
NBA Prediction: Golden State Warriors -14
