NBA Prediction: Will the Warriors cover at home vs. the Jazz? 5/4/17
Will the Golden State Warriors cruise to another big win over the Utah Jazz when they meet up in Game 2 tonight at 10:30PM ET? Here’s our NBA Prediction for Thursday.
GAME 2 ODDS
According to oddsmakers, Golden State is the clear favorite tonight, as the Warriors are getting odds of -12.5 points against the Jazz. The over/under total for the game is listed at 204.5 points.
RECORDS
Golden State picked up a 106-94 win in Game 1 on Tuesday, but the Warriors failed to cover the spread in the victory. The Warriors have won three of four meetings with the Jazz this season, but Utah is 3-1 against the spread.
Golden State comes into today 72-15 overall, 39-5 at home and 43-41-3 against the spread. Utah is 55-35 overall, 25-21 on the road and 42-44-4 against the spread.
GAME 1 RECAP
The Warriors led comfortably throughout Game 1, but didn’t have quite enough to cover the spread. The Jazz were pesky enough to stay within reach. Part of the reason the Warriors didn’t fully pull away was because they were just 7-of-29 from 3-point land.
Stephen Curry had 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the win while Kevin Durant and Draymond Green both had 17 points. Utah had a very balanced attack offensively, as 13 different players scored and nobody had more than 13 points. Rudy Gobert was the top scorer with 13 points and eight rebounds.
NBA PREDICTION
I’m torn for this game as the Jazz have proven they can cover the spread against the Warriors, but Golden State also shot poorly from the arc in Game 1. I would anticipate the Warriors improving from the arc in Game 2, but the Jazz were one of the best defensive teams in the NBA all season.
While Utah may lack star power, they aren’t lacking in pride and effort. Utah won’t lay down if they fall behind by a big margin early. That is why I am going with the Jazz to cover again on the road. I think they will have a good defensive game plan to keep this game within reason.
