NBA: Nets vs. Suns Over/Under Predictions 11/6/17
Will the Nets and Suns combine for enough points to push the score over the betting total Monday night in Phoenix?
The Matchup: Nets at Suns, 9:00 p.m. ET, Phoenix
According to oddsmakers, Brooklyn is now a 1-point road favorite to beat Phoenix tonight. The Suns opened as 1-point home favorites but the line jumped the fence. As for the total, the number hit the oard at 236 but was bet down to 234.5.
Brooklyn enters play with a 3-6 record and is 0-4 on the road to start the season. Phoenix has been that much better, posting a 4-6 record and a 2-2 mark at home. The Nets are also 4-5 against the spread this year while the Suns are 5-5 at the betting window.
Brooklyn Nets
Trevor Booker (back) did not participate in Monday’s morning shootaround. According to coach Kenny Atkinson, Booker remains questionable for Monday’s game vs. the Suns. Jarrett Allen (foot) has already been ruled out, but Quincy Acy (groin) is expected to play. If Booker is unable to go, Tyler Zeller and Acy will hold down the fort behind Timofey Mozgov.
Jarrett Allen (foot) has been ruled out for Monday’s game against Phoenix. This will be Allen’s third straight game on the sidelines, and you can bet the Nets will continue to play it safe with their promising big man. Allen has a good amount of upside, but it’s tough to justify stashing him outside of deep leagues.
Phoenix Suns
Devin Booker was held to nine points on 3-of-11 shooting on Sunday, adding three rebounds, two assists and four turnovers in 26 minutes. The Spurs had allowed opposing SGs to shoot 48.3 percent prior to this game, the second-highest mark in the league, so this was doubly disappointing for Booker’s owners. The Spurs put the game away in the third quarter, and Danny Green and Brandon Paul’s defense deserves plenty of credit, so there’s nothing to worry about here. Booker should light up the Nets on Monday.
T.J. Warren (head) scored 17 points on 7-of-18 shooting vs. the Spurs on Sunday, adding five rebounds without any assists, steals, blocks or 3-pointers in 29 minutes. Warren went through some drills on Saturday and was apparently no worse for the wear, as his struggles tonight had more to do with the Spurs’ defense. He missed 13 games last season due to a “minor head injury” so it was great just to see him playing tonight, two days after a scary hit. Keep him locked-in for the Suns’ upcoming four-game week.
Our Prediction
In the last seven meetings between these two teams in Phoenix, the over has cashed all seven times. The over is also 6-2-1 in the Nets’ last nine games, is 35-15-1 in their last 51 Western Conference tilts, and is 6-1 in their last seven games following a loss of more than 10 points.
On the other side, in the Suns’ last six games against Eastern Conference teams, the over is 5-1. The over is also 4-1 in Phoenix’s last five games overall and is 20-9 in the team’s last 29 home games.
Monday NBA Prediction: Nets/Suns over 234.5
