Monday Night Football NFL Week 2: Lions vs. Giants Predictions 9/18/17
Will the Lions pull off the upset tonight against the Giants when these two teams meet in Week 2 of Monday Night Football?
The Matchup: Lions vs. Giants, 8:30PM ET, Monday Night
According to oddsmakers, New York is a 3-point home favorite to beat Detroit tonight. The Giants opened as 5-point favorites before that number was bet down. As for the total, the number opened at 43.5 but has been bet down to 41.5.
Detroit Lions Betting Trends
The Lions have failed to cover in six of their last eight road games and are 1-5 against the number in their last six games overall. They’re also 1-5 at the betting window in their last six games versus NFC opponents. Where they have covered, however, is on Monday night. The Lions have covered in five of their last seven MNF games.
New York Giants Betting Trends
The Giants are a near-perfect 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games, are 3-0-1 against the number in their last four games following an ATS loss and are 4-0 ATS in their last four games after accumulating less than 250 total yards in previous game. That said, they’re 0-5 against the number in their last five games in Week 2.
Our Prediction
The Giants have issues offensively. Odell Beckham Jr. is dealing with an ankle injury that will limit him, even if he is healthy enough to play tonight. The bigger problem is New York’s offensive line. Instead of upgrading that unit in the offseason, the Giants instead added another receiver in Brandon Marshall. All of those weapons are useless if Eli Manning isn’t protected. The Giants were bogged down in their Week 1 matchup against the Cowboys and I don’t expect New York to play any better tonight. If the Lions don’t pull off the upset, I like them to keep the score with a field goal.
